This year I was Elmo and Aki was Oscar the Grouch (although some thought he was a scary ninja at night when they couldn’t see the green). I actually had an art test for TX certification in the morning (who takes tests on Halloween!? Sadly no one dressed up for the test). Aki finished his costume then we headed over to Chris and KK’s house for some candy passing outting (I was super excited because I lived on a busy street growing up and never got to do it). We went to another party with them and played games, including broom ball, apple version! My day ended up going from 6:30 am to 3:15 am. Very long but very enjoyable!
I was so excited that one of my favorite books became a movie. And in 3-D no less! If you haven’t read or seen it check it out because it’s awesome! There’s even a sequel to the book if you didn’t know!
Several months ago I found a book in a store that I couldn’t not buy. It was called Wreck This Journal. Today I randomly came across the author’s website and fell in love with what she does all other again. I love how she encourages people to see things and do things in different ways like writing a message on a page of her book, tearing it out, and leaving it for a stranger to find. I want to get her new book, This is Not a Book, which challenges what a book can be used for and can do. I think everybody should try to do her 100 things. Love her stuff!
I went to a Chuck Close exhibit at the Austin Museum of Art with some people from Abrakadoodle. Some of his work was paired with poems by Bob Holman with lines such as “you’d step back to hear the painting” and “cautiously pouring the moonlight back into the piano”. Here’s some of the pictures I took of Close’s work as well as others like Dale Chihuly…
